Where's a good place to buy leathers?

I'm looking for a good place to buy a new jacket and chaps. Road Rider is ok. Just Leather has minimal stock and charges a fortune for their limited choices.

Any suggestions?

Just Leather in San Jose. Yeah it's pricey..but at least it's fitted to you and it's high quality. I finally got a pair of chaps that fit. All the other off the rack stuff was too long or didn't seem to fit right. I have zero complaints (other than it was expensive)

This is a very late post but since I'm a newbie to tribe I just saw your post. These guys are great. Johnsons modified my Alpine Stars jacket, installing upgraded armour in the elbows and shoulders. I also had them make a made-to-measure pair of kick ass chaps for me (with hip and knee armor) which are beautifully made and fit like a glove. They also have a great line of jackets and chaps that are pre-made on the hanger and ready to go. Since my first purchase at Johnson, I have several friends who have had custom leathers made at Johnsons ... all with great results. BTW, many SFPD motorcycle cops get their leathers from Johnsons, so don't freak out if you see a cop in the store!

hmm myabe I should go to Johnsons and have them do a jacket for me. I'm long waisted and the Frank Thomas jacket I have rides up in the back when I'm riding and I hate it. You said they modified your jacket. I wonder if they could add something to mine. I'll have to go check them out. Thanks for the info! And chaps that fit like a glove? I'd love that! LOL

By modified I meant removing the old armor and replacing it! They might be able to add a "kidney belt" to extend your jacket at the back. You'd have to take it in to them and let them take a look and see if they can do it.

Johnsons is good for the variety. Loyalty to the East Bay makes me suggest California Leather Creations at 616 Doolittle Drive in San Leandro. 568-2285. all chaps and jackets are customized for the buyer from the standard "Brando" style and the mandarin collar style. customization includes fitting, linings, zipper color, belt or lace sides, epaulets, additional pockets, vents, and whatever. Chaps are fitted and customized as well. they serve motorcyclists only.
